Cascade Emergency Medical Services

Cascade Emergency Medical Services is a community based volunteer ambulance service responsible for the delivery of pre-hospital emergency care to the residents and visitors of the city of Cascade and its surrounding community. Our membership consists of Paramedics, Registered Nurses, EMT’s and non-healthcare providers. All members participate in continuing education to improve their knowledge and skills as they provide exceptional care.

We accomplish our goal by the utilization of two Advanced Life Support (ALS) ambulances to facilitate emergency response coverage 24 hours each day, 365 days per year. The service is dispatched by Dubuque and Jones County via 911 and covers a 136 square mile area in Dubuque, Jones, and Jackson counties. In 2019 the ambulance service responded to 219 calls.

We are dedicated to providing you, your loved one, or patient the best care during the time you spend with us. To deliver this we commit to:

  • Provide a prompt, reliable, friendly, and professional service
  • Remain focused on patient care, comfort, and safety
  • Treat patients with dignity and respect
  • Treat all patient encounters with the upmost discretion and confidentiality

The ambulance service purchases much of its equipment with money earned through fundraising efforts and community donations. In recent years, we have been able to purchase an Off-Road Utility Vehicle (UTV) with trailer (for extreme terrain response), 12-lead Electrocardiogram (ECG) capabilities for each ambulance, as well as high quality automated CPR devices.

The ambulance service is very active in community outreach. Its members volunteer their time and expertise to train and certify local groups and individuals in First Aid, CPR, and Basic Life Saving. Members also volunteer their time for emergency medical services at the Cascade High School football games, wrestling meets, cross-country invitationals, and numerous other community events and functions.

If you are a Cascade area resident and would like to make a very real contribution to your community and gain valuable skills that will stay with you for life, consider applying to join us. No experience is necessary – just a passion to help and a willingness to learn. Cascade Volunteer Ambulance Service is always looking for individuals to join us in serving our community.
